RASCargO™, an innovative cargo screening system,
is the perfect solution for cargo security clearance
and for fighting contraband smuggling

Regulated in Europe as Remote Explosive Scent Tracing (a.k.a REST)
RASCargO™ is a commercially available cargo screening technology that utilizes Remote Air Sampling for Canine Olfaction (RASCO – aka REST, in the EU).
The technique has screened over 100,000 trucks and pallets and over 1.5 million metric tons of air cargo since live operations began in the UK and France.
The RASCargO™ technique was specially developed to serve the mass-screening cargo market that requires a solution for screening high volumes of dense cargo, with actually, no cargo size limitation, a solution that combines high detection rate with cost effectiveness. The RASCargO™ system is based on a two stage process:

1. Volatile materials such as explosives, narcotics etc, are identified from closed volumes, through air drawing and are then captured on a specially designed filter.

2. The filter is then presented for analysis and detection by specially and highly trained dogs.

Trucks, pallets and containers screening for explosives and drugs

Specially conceived for huge volumes of merchandise
Screening ability for up to 40 trucks per hour
Tested and approved by a range of European regulators
Operational at various European airports, widely used by Air France and several other airlines
Cost-efficient, thanks to our pay-per-use business model
A decision is taken according to a matrix based on analyses of two dogs, this leads to high detection rates and low false alarms
Provides better security and operational efficiency
The RASCargO ™ is also known as “REST” or “Remote Explosive Scent Tracing” meaning the ability of the dogs to detect explosives from scent samples taken from sealed cargo.RASCargO units have screened over 100,000 trucks and pallets and over 1.5 million metric tons of cargo since live operations began in the UK and France

The main advantages of RASCargO include:

High detection rate
Low false alarm rate (1-2%) for resolved alarms.
High throughput. Hourly throughput is >40 filters for 2 dogs, and annual throughput is estimated at 750,000 metric tons for 8 dogs if truck screening is conducted.
Enhanced screening capabilities. There are no physical restrictions on size of item or volume of container associated with the RASCargO technique. RASCargO can screen all cargo types including small items, large items such as containers and trucks, and outsized and oddly shaped articles that are typically difficult to screen using X-ray (dense, cluttered, outsized and high water content cargoes).
Non-intrusive. No need to open the pallet/container/truck.
Efficiency. There is no need to break down cargo.
Mobility: samples can be taken from the skid/pallet without the need to move it.
Low energy consumption
Cost effectiveness.
The technique has screened over 100,000 trucks and pallets and over 1.5 million metric tons of air cargo since live operations began in the UK and France.

Roadside bombs or IEDs are a problem well known to military forces
combating guerrilla warfare throughout the world
There have been innumerable cases of patrols attacked by roadside IEDs,
sustaining many casualties.

Dogs that can be sent for remote detection over 200 meters from their handlers are a viable option to help overcome this challenge.
The dogs are trained to obey commands from a distance, directing them to the area that is to be searched,
and they will signal the presence of a roadside IED, if found in the area, back to their handler.
DiagNose trainers are masters in this type of unique remote command and have trained,
used, and detected IEDs through the deployment of such dogs.

DiagNose sets up roadside IED detection units utilizing military working dogs.
Our company provides:

  • Specially trained explosives detection canines
  • Training of handlers – Full handler-dog teams program
  • Provision of equipment
  • Provision of procedures
  • Ongoing support

High Assurance Search Dogs (HASD) for IED detection

IEDs are the number one cause of death among NATO troops in Afghanistan, and the number
of IEDs used has increased by 400% since 2007. The main effort
of the NATO forces in Afghanistan is to counter the IED threat to protect military and civilian personnel from injury and death.
High Assurance Search Dogs (HASD) have proved to be a winning capability in combat scenarios because of their ability to detect IEDs.
Due to this fact there is currently a large demand on such dogs from all NATO partners in Afghanistan.

DiagNose is a reliable source of explosive detection dogs suitable for further
training as High Assurance Search Dogs (HASD)  or roadside IED detection dogs. We train dogs and handlers to meet the operational requirements of the army and to save precious human lives. DiagNose expert trainers are all army veterans and have a real battle field experience in operating high

Work dogs have been deployed by police forces and military organizations for over a hundred years.

Every country has used dogs in various applications in order to achieve a response to a particular
threat that it faced. This approach has led to the widespread use of dogs in a variety of tasks,
from detecting explosives through to replacing soldiers/police officers in guard duties and
other delicate situations.

The presence at DiagNose of specialists who had previously served in the government sector
has contributed to an intense sharing of knowledge and the creation of a solutions warehouse to address
the particular needs of each client.

Among the solutions we offer for government organizations:

  • Setup of their own units for a particular application
  • Development of solutions for specific needs
  • Consulting on the feasibility of canine-based projects
